Intiland Becomes a Learning Destination for Architecture Students
Jakarta | National property developer PT Intiland Development Tbk is set to be the partner for universities or higher education institutions in providing learning place for architecture students. This commitment is realized with the launch of a number of corporate social responsibility
programs in the field of education, with the objective of creating “link and match” between the workplace and education.
The programs are realized through a visit activity to ongoing projects, scientific discussion, seminar, research and internship for college students. Other program held is a discussion event designed for architects and architecture students, featuring invited internationally acclaimed architects, such as Tom Wright.
In an effort to develop the programs, Intiland through Intiland Foundation also collaborates with Architecture Study Undergraduate Program; School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Such collaboration includes having guest lecturer and mentor from Building Information Modeling division of PT Intiland Development Tbk, in the subject of Introduction to BIM in Planning.
Agoes Denny Atmodjojo, chairman of Intiland Foundation explained that the collaboration became one of the real steps Intiland actively participates in giving positive contribution toward increasing the quality of national education. Along with Bandung Institute of Technology, Intiland Foundation also contributes in an effort to develop quality human resources in the field of education, and link the workplace with education.
“We are ready to share real experience through internship, research, introduction of projects, or providing opportunities for the most outstanding students to join Intiland,” Denny explained.
The subject Introduction to BIM in Planning at Architecture Study Undergraduate Program at ITB will teach students about the implementation of building model using software, followed by analysis about that particular model in order to get appropriate building design. Thus, the building can achieve maximum result in terms of design, construction and operation.
According to Denny, this collaboration allows students who graduated with the highest marks to have the opportunity to work at Intiland. They will have the opportunity to directly involve in development phases, starting from planning to developing new projects. Other program is to participate in plasma program, in which students get involved with the team from Intiland in the development of projects, which are not too big. Through this system, students are expected to build their characters and hone their skills, paving the way for becoming quality human resources set to face rapid growth in the field of property and building design.
“We are happy that Intiland’s BIM division will share their experience in the implementation of BIM in drafting various Intiland’s projects that can enhance not only knowledge but also understanding when students embark on the professional world of building design.
Intiland Foundation was established as the umbrella of Intiland’s corporate social responsibility programs. One of the work programs at Intiland Foundation is actively taking part in the field of education by means of such activities as school establishment, education program support, research and scholarship. The collaboration with Architecture Study Undergraduate Program at ITB is Intiland’s initial step toward giving the real support to education institutions. Intiland hopes to have collaboration with more renowned universities and education institutions in the future.
Rapid Growth
The collaboration with this education institution is based on the fact that national property industry is growing rapidly. Intiland is likewise experiencing the trend, as the company is at rapid growth with the development of new projects in Jakarta and Surabaya.
Along with this, the commitment of the company as the property developer and the trendsetter is realized by developing many prestigious projects. Several examples of ongoing projects are Aeropolis, South Quarter, 1Park Avenue, Serenia Hills and Kebon Melati in Jakarta; and Spazio, Praxis, Sumatra 36 are among those in Surabaya.
According to Denny, the development of many projects with various concepts needs more skilled and quality human resources. This factor is one of the considerations that have led Intiland to seek talented youngsters through national education institutions. This is the means that students are expected to possess better understanding and knowledge in their profession, thus complementing the academic skills they have gained in the education world.
